Viewfinder: Brayden Fowlkes Benefit a Great Success

Good music, great prizes, and two former Green Bay Packers helped raise about $18,000 for a baby in need of intensive and extensive medical treatment.

What do you get when you combine live music, raffle baskets, more than 40 volunteers, two former Green Bay Packers, generous local businesses and a giving community?

"It was phenomenal!" said Dan Cramer, one of the organizers for the Brayden Scott Fowlkes Benefit. "There had to have been 500 or 600 people coming in and out all night."

According to Cramer, he estimated this morning, April 11, that about $18,000 was raised this weekend. That sum does not include donations made directly to the Brayden Scott Medical Fund at Tri-City National Bank.

Brayden was born in January with a cleft lip, palate and larynx as well as two holes in his heart. He will need daily medical care and many hours of future surgery.

Among the attendees were former Green Bay Packers, Fuzzy Thurston and Jerry Kramer, each of whom gave 25 percent of their fees to Brayden's fund.

“Jerry did the entire live auction,” Dan Cramer remarked, “It was unbelievable.”

Jerry Kramer also auctioned off a Packer helmet signed by Ray Nitschke for $500, and the winner of the $3000 raffle gave ½ of the winnings back to Brayden's fund.

“We were so happy at the turn out and the family is just amazed,” Dan said, “It was just so exciting, I was up until 5 in the morning!”

Anyone interested in giving to Brayden's fund can visit Tri-City National Bank and donate to the Brayden Scott Medical Fund.
