Park HS Team Tierney Raises $4,500 for Leukemia

Sturtevant trustees want to add left turn lanes on the north and south sides of 90th Street at Highway 11 to make the intersection safer. Public Works Director Chuck Stachowski got the go-ahead Tuesday to pursue the project, including soliciting bids and talking with county officials about the project. "That intersection is dangerous and needs upgrades," said Village President Steve Jansen. Some coordination is needed because the state Department of Transportation has plans to widen Highway 11 to four lanes, but the timeline for that project remains very much up in the air, according to Administrator Mary Cole. Still, Trustee John Johnson thinks adding left turn signals to the lights at the intersection is a good idea. There is not a proposed timeline for the striping of the turn lanes, Stachowski told Patch Tuesday after the board meeting. "It depends on the information we get back from the county and any bids we might get," he said.
