Racine Unified Students Mark Martin Luther King, Jr. Day by Volunteering

High school students from across the district will donate their time and talents to commemorate the civil rights leader.

Several community organizations will get an extra helping hand from high school seniors on Mon., Jan. 16, for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

More than 200 students are expected throughout the day to visit the Racine Theatre Guild, the Eco Justice Center, the Hispanic Community and Resource Center, the Urban League, Goodwill, the  Women's Resource Center and Wheaton Franciscan All Saints.

"The community service activities are part of an entire day of events honoring Dr. King," said Jane Flis in an email to Patch. "This is a great way for students to help the Racine community and embody the life lessons of Dr. King."
