Racine Unified Cancels Summer School July 21

High temperatures prompt officials to err on the side of caution for students.

Racine Unified officials are canceling summer school classes as well as closing Janes Elementary on July 21 because of unusually high temperatures.

The district canceled classes for summer school and at Janes on July 20 as well.

Temperatures are predicted to reach into the high 90s July 20 and 21 with heat indexes of up to 115. Poor air quality for students walking to and from school and the lack of air conditioning in several school buildings could prove dangerous for children, faculty and staff.
