Celebrating Wisconsin's Economic Success

I’m State Representative Robin Vos and this is the Speaker’s Briefing.

Labor Day weekend is a chance for Wisconsin families to celebrate the end of summer by experiencing what our state has to offer. In fact, AAA Wisconsin is predicting 713,000 of us will hit the road this weekend, a big increase from last year.

Increased travel is a sign that Wisconsin residents feel more secure about the economy, and there are plenty of signs. For example, tourism spending was up 5% in 2012, the Philadelphia Fed has again ranked Wisconsin 3rd best in the nation for economic growth, and state tax collections were up 4% this year. Plus, more of us are finding work as first time claims for unemployment are at their lowest level since 2007!

The recession was difficult for all of us, but I am happy to see that the bold actions Assembly Republicans have spearheaded over the last 3 years are paying off. We will do everything we can to continue to make sure Wisconsin stays on this positive economic path for you and for your family.
