You can be a Skeleton Skamper volunteer!

Have fun by volunteering at the Real Racine Skeleton Skamper in Mount Pleasant Saturday, Oct. 29. Here's the skinny.

Have some fall fun by joining Real Racine Skeleton Skamper as a volunteer next Saturday, Oct. 29 in Mount Pleasant.

Groups of at least five people are invited to manage water stops along the half-marathon or 5K courses. Real Racine provides all supplies - table, cups, water, Gatorade and trash can. Your group provides the Halloween spirit with costumes, decorations, music, etc.

Runners and the Skeleton Skamper race staff will select the best water stops based on creativity, number of volunteers and cleanliness. Cash prizes of $200 for first place, $100 for second place and $50 for third place will be awarded. Each group will also receive a participation prize.

Groups are needed for four water stops at various locations in Mount Pleasant. Hours are 7:30 a.m. to noon but most shifts are expected to run about two to three hours.

  • As "pointers" along the half-marathon course to direct runners in the correct direction. Volunteers will receive a safety vest and flag. Hours and locations to be determined.
  • To provide assistance at the start and finish line areas. Assignments include registration, help with pumpkin decorating and cleanup from 7 a.m. to noon at the Mount Pleasant Village Campus, 8811 Campus Drive (near Highway 20 and 90th Street.)

Volunteers are encouraged to wear costumes.
