Plenty on Tap for Labor Day Weekend

There's lots to do in Racine County this Labor Day weekend. Here are some picks.

The last, long weekend of summer is upon us. The challenge is squeezing in all the activities into three (or four) days!  Here are some of our picks for Labor Day weekend:

Head Downtown: There's music (and lots more) Friday, Sept. 2 in Downtown Racine. A bonus Music on the Monument concert featuring the Twang Dragons is from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Monument Square. Then, starting at 6 p.m., it's First Fridays. Downtown art galleries will feature exhibits by regional artists ranging from glass weaving to digital engravings. Live music includes Zicomatic on Monument Square, Paul Kaye on the Wisconsin Avenue stage near Hot Shop Glass and Mark Paffrath at Main Street's Crosswalk Park.

Enjoy the view: This month's Tour to the Top is 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 4 at the , 4725 Lighthouse Drive. The climb up the 144 steps of the Wind Point Lighthouse delivers a spectacular view. Advance reservations are required, 262-639-2026.

Yummy!  Monday, Sept. 5 is one of the area's most delicious annual events - Taste of Racine. This benefit for Family Services of Racine runs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Racine Zoo, 2131 N. Main St. Visitors can purchase foods ranging from hot dogs to barbecue from more than a dozen area restaurants. Mark your calendar!  The EVP Tour Beach Volleyball National Championships returns to next Saturday, Sept.10, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Visit www.evptour.com for details.
