On Jan. 4, police were called to to Peterson’s step-father’s home in the 1400 block of 11th Avenue, after he reported someone had broken in and taken an iPad2, a Dell computer, $300 to $400 in change and other electronic items. The total loss in the burglary was estimated at $4,966.

Peterson was interviewed by police, but denied the theft. Several days later, she was interviewed again and admitted taking the iPad, which she said she pawned in Racine.

She told police she takes heroin Xanax and Oxycodone and when taking the drugs she gets “crazy” and thinks she can steal things, but denied taking the other items.

Police then interviewed Peterson’s husband who initially denied knowing his wife had a drug problem, but then admitted he pawned the stolen iPad so it wouldn’t be traced back to her. He eventually also produced the stolen computer, which was hidden behind a television.

Peterson was interviewed a third time, where she finally admitted to stealing the items.

She’s currently being held in jail on $100 bond.
