Possible Attempted Burglary in Progress Suspect Detained

Mount Pleasant Police say they have detained the person who might be responsible for an attempted burglary Friday morning.

With the caller still on the phone, Mount Pleasant Police responded to a residence Friday morning where an attempted burglary in progress was reported.

According to MPPD Captain Brian Smith, officers were called to the 2100 block of Clark Street shortly after 10 am for an attempted burglary in progress. The caller remained on the phone with dispatch, giving a description of a black male with a back pack wearing a grey hoodie trying to break in.

The suspect fled, but officers caught up with someone on a bike who fit the caller's description. That person was being detained as of 11 am.

"Officers have detained the probable suspect for an attempted burglary at a residence where somone was home," Smith confirmed.

No one was hurt. Smith said more information will be released as details become available.
