The state Republican office in Mount Pleasant was vandalized overnight Monday by individuals using permanent markers.

"Horrible people work here" and "Criminals" were scrawled on the front windows of the GOP office, according to jsonline.com columnist Daniel Bice.

Mount Pleasant police responded to the office, 6100 Washington Ave., to take a report, but they do not have any leads on any suspects.

"We have no leads. The writings were already washed off prior to police arrival. The complainant wanted the activity documented," MPPD Sgt. Eric Relich told Patch.

Joe Fadness, executive director of the state GOP, said in a statement that anger and vandalism "have no place in our communities," the newspaper reports.

County GOP chair Bill Folk agrees.

"Vandalism like this is cowardice," he told Patch in an email. "If you don't like the people or our politics then ignore us or debate us."

RightWisconsin posted Bice's story on their website and blamed "liberals" for the damage.

"Classy, tolerant, liberals vandalized the local GOP office in Racine last night," they wrote.

Bice does not indicate who might be responsible for the vandalism.
