Car vs. House Leads to OWI Arrest for Racine Man

A Racine man took a corner too fast and slammed into a home while under the influence. Thankfully, no one was hurt.

Homeowners in Mount Pleasant may be wondering about having bad luck after their house was struck for a second time by a drunk driver trying to take a turn too fast.

According to a written release from Mount Pleasant Police, Andrew Polasky, 21, of Racine, was taken into custody for driving while intoxicated at 5:13 am Friday.

He allegedly drove too fast going south on Elwood Drive when he tried to make a right turn onto Regency Hills Drive. Polasky didn't quite make it and instead slammed into a home in the 5900 block of Regency Hills Drive. The vehicle cut a gas line and came to a stop partially inside the house.

South Shore Fire and WE Energies responded to the scene to secure the area and correct the natural gas leak. After several hours, the road was reopened and normal traffic patterns resumed.

MPPD Sargeant Matthew Soens wrote in the release that this same home was struck by a drunk driver in 1998.
