Car Thief Gets Extra Jail Time for Punching Inmate

While in custody for stealing SUV from Mount Pleasant gas station, homeless man gets into more hot water when he attacks fellow inmate.

A 26-year-old man who stole a sports utility vehicle from a Mount Pleasant gas station is going to spend some extra time behind bars after punching a fellow inmate about three weeks later while jailed, the Journal Times reports.

Javier Hernandez, who is homeless, was sentenced  Friday to nine months in jail for stealing a Range Rover from the Kwik Trip, 7155 Durand Ave., in March. About four months of that sentence stems from Hernandez punching another inmate in the Racine County Jail soon after arrested on the original charge, the newspaper reported.
