Racine Lutheran's Carly Renguette Receives Herb Kohl Award

Racine Lutheran High School's Carly Renguette has been awarded the Herb Kohl Educational Foundation Initiative Scholarship.

Racine Lutheran High School’s Carly Renguette has been awarded the Herb Kohl Educational Foundation Initiative Scholarship. The $1,000 scholarship was presented by U.S. Senator Herb Kohl (retired) at a March 23 luncheon in Greenfield. This award recognizes students who have demonstrated a high level of motivation, shown strong promise for achieving success in college and beyond, and overcome significant personal obstacles or adversity.

Several years ago, Carly sustained a spinal cord injury that nearly took her life. She became paralyzed and was unable to breathe on her own. After much effort and therapy, Carly has progressed from wheelchair to arm crutches, and she is now working on walking with a cane and walking independently. Her dream is to become an author.

Racine Lutheran Principal David Burgess says, “Congratulations to Carly. She provides us all with a great example of Romans 5:3 perseverance, character, and hope. Carly is an excellent student and very deserving of this honor.”
