Burglary Has Police Urging Neighbors to Stay Alert

Another burglary has been reported in Sturtevant, and police are urging residents to keep a look out for anything suspicious in their neighborhoods.

Sturtevant police are urging neighbors to stay alert and report any suspicious activity and/or persons to police after another home was burglarized.

Officers were dispatched at 7:45 p.m. on July 18 to a home in the 3100 block of 93rd Street for a report of a burglary. When police arrived, the homeowner said they arrived home and discovered the back door wide open and a broken window.

Police say they found a window screen with a small "L" shaped opening cut into it. The homeowner said the incident occurred sometime after 8 a.m. because that is when they left for work.

The details of this crime are different from recently reported incidents that took place on July 8 primarily because residents were not at home and this crime is believed to have taken place during the day.

Sturtevant police say the only things taken from the home on 93rd Street were a jewelry box and another small wooden box.

If anyone has information about these crimes, they could earn a reward for their anonymous tip that leads to arrest.
