What Would You Like to See at Former Towne Ford Site?

Dividing the Towne Ford property in two is a first step in a proposed development that could bring new jobs to the area.

The former Towne Ford site has been vacant for a few years now, and there are signs that a new tenant may take up residence there.Β

Last month, the Mount Pleasant Village Board and the Community Development Authority met in a joint closed session about an existing Racine County company looking to relocate and expand.

The estimated investment came in around $5.3 million with the potential for 25 new jobs, for a total of 70 when all is said and done.

Halmarc, LLC requested the 9-1/2 acre site be divided in two; the front five acres would include the existing building and is already zoned for business/commercial. The back half - which is mostly just a field of brush - will remain zoned agricultural until a developer requests a change.

Mount Pleasant trustees Monday night unanimously approved Halmarc's request, and it is a first step in the proposed development labeled "Project Towne" because the name of the interested business is being kept confidential.

What would you like to see in that space?
