Wagner to Lead UW-Parkside Jaeschke SEG Center

A 2008 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a Ph.D. in urban studies, Matt Wagner previously served as executive director of the Center for Advanced Technology and Innovation in Sturtevant.

The University of Wisconsin-Parkside has announced the appointment of Dr. Matthew Wagner as director of the Ralph Jaeschke Solutions for Economic Growth (SEG) Center. The appointment is effective June 1, 2011.

UW-Parkside School of Business and Technology Dean Fred Ebeid said Wagner’s strong ties to local commerce and his ongoing experience with the center led to his new assignment.

“Dr. Wagner has been involved with the SEG Center for several years. He has also forged many working relationships with area businesses and organizations and as director is looking forward to increasing the level of involvement of our students with these groups,” said Ebeid. “I am confident that under Dr. Wagner’s direction, the SEG Center will continue to be highly successful.”

Wagner continues to serve as an associate lecturer in entrepreneurship for the Department of Business. He also continues to direct the university’s Small Business Development Center (SBDC), a position he has held since June 2005.

“Obviously, I won’t be at a loss for things to do but I’m really excited about working with students at the SEG Center,” Wagner said. “It dovetails perfectly with my classroom work on entrepreneurship and what we’re doing at the SBDC.”
