Nick Young Eliminated on 'So You Think You Can Dance'

The Wisconsin dancer couldn't tap his way past the second week.

It was a short but terrific run on FOX's So You think You Can Dance for Franklin dancer Nick Young. He endured the audition and the grueling week in Vegas where he danced difficult routines in a number of styles to make to the Top 20.

The first week of competition, he and his partner, Iveta Lukosiute, a professional ballroom dancer, performed the quickstep. Young killed it, much to the surprise of the live and at-home audiences. This second week the couple pulled Bollywood and while Young lived up to his potential, his partner's performance wasn't as strong and they found themselves in the bottom three.

Since, for the first time since the show began, the judges chose to save everyone the first week, that meant four dancers, two couples, would be sent home this second elimination night. For Young, unfortunately, that meant dancing against a strong and versatile jazz/contemporary dancer and a hip-hop dancer with surprising range.

Even more unfortunate, it seemed obvious even before each dancer did their solo who would be sent home. Young and the hip-hop dancer, along with their partners, got the bad news near the end of the show.

Young, a 2010 graduate of Martin Luther High School in Greendale, was one of the top 20 contenders for the title of 'America's Favorite Dancer' on the show. Β The Franklin native has danced at his mother's dance studio, Young Dance Academy, in Oak Creek since the age of four.
