La Fiesta Mexicana Comes to Caledonia

After 20 years of holding La Fiesta on the lakefront, organizers are moving the festival to the joint Mount Pleasant-Caledonia Memorial Park in Franksville.

Get ready to party, Caledonia. After years of holding their annual party celebrating Mexican culture, La Fiesta Mexicana will be at Franksville Park on Northwestern Avenue this weekend.

In addition to children's games, food and live entertainment, there will also be a Mexican Independence celebration.

Organizers say they looked for a new venue when fees at Festival Park proved too high. The lakefront hosted the event for about 20 years, according to a story in The Journal Times.

Caledonia Trustee Kevin Wanggaard said he's thrilled to see La Fiesta in Caledonia this weekend.

"We have a wonderful park here in the middle of our community, and this is just the beginning of festivals returning to the joint park," he said. "I know this will be a great event."

La Fiesta hours are 7 p.m. to midnight Friday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and noon to 10 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $8 for adults, $5 for children ages 6-12, and children ages 5 and under are free.
