Billing the appearance as a "Rockin' Rally," forme Gov. Tommy Thompson's campaign announced Monday that he will appear with American rocker Ted Nugent in Sturtevant later this week.

Calling Nugent an "American Sporting Legend" and Thompson an "American Conservative Legend," the rally will go from 4 to 5 pm Thursday, at Fountain Hall Banquet Hall in Sturtevant, 8505 Durand Avenue.

A spokesperson with Thompson's campaign said Nugent has been a longtime supporter of Thompson. Since Nugent will be in the area anyway for a Thursday night concert at the Racine County Fair, it seemed like a perfect fit.

In a written statement, Thompson said Nugent is a conservative icon and he's proud to have an appearance with him.

 "I am proud to have Ted Nugent, a relentless conservative icon, as part of my U.S. Senate campaign team," said Thompson. "Nugent's enthusiasm for everything he does including his music, outdoor passions and politics will provide a source of much-appreciated-enthusiasm that the campaign can build upon with less than three weeks left before the August 14th primary."

Nugent is highlighted as the keynote appearance at the "Rockin' Rally with Ted Nugent," but the statement also says the event will feature outdoor enthusiasts and conservative activists.
