Governor Scott Walker Focused on Jobs Despite Recall Efforts

Governor Scott Walker said he will use an ad campaign and more job announcements to fight the recall efforts that launched against him on Tues., Nov. 15.

He was at Ruud Lighting in for a groundbreaking ceremony. Ruud is building a 208,000 square foot addition to accommodate its growing share of the LED market, and with the addition comes 469 new jobs. Walker said partnerships between the state, Racine County and the Village of Sturtevant helped make it happen and he will use these kinds of examples to prove that his reforms are working.

"We need to get the word out that we're growing the state's economy," he said. "My focus is on moving the state forward."

Still, he can't ignore the recall and said he will use more ads like the one that is part of a campaign that started on Mon., Nov. 14 that features a citizen talking about how the budget repair bill as helped her community and school district.

"People elected me to make tough decisions and to do things to bring the state together and move us forward," Walked added. "What we're doing is helping companies like Ruud grow and create jobs. We've been focused on jobs since January 3rd and that continues to be our focus."

Three Republican state senators are also targets of recall, including Van Wanggaard (R-Racine). Walker said he is supporting Wanggaard and the other senators by working to give people facts about how reforms are working.

"I can support them with the message that reforms are working," Walker said. "The more people know the facts, the more they support our efforts."
