Warner Resigning from Unified Board in August

The Racine Unified board will need to appoint someone to serve out the remainder of Gretchen Warner's term. She is resigning to move to Arizona.

Racine Unified board members will have a vacancy to fill after Grethen Warner resigns to follow her husband to Arizona for a new job opportunity.

Warner made the announcement Monday that Aug. 19 will be her last RUSD school board meeting, according to a story in The Journal Times.

Her husband, Scott Schroder, has accepted a position in a suburb of Phoenix to teach seventh and eighth grade. Warner has a background in college program accrediting and will be looking for a position in that field after the couple gets settled.

Board members will have to appoint someone to serve out the remainder of Warner's term, but the timeline and procedure for that has not yet been set. Warner was re-elected to the Board of Education in 2012 and her term expires in 2015. She was first elected in 2006.
