'Time To Believe In Ourselves' Principal Says

Case High School Principal Jeff Eben prefers the school year over the summer because of students' positive energy.

Case High School Principal Jeff Eben looks forward to the start of the school year because of all the positive energy.

"Summer is awkward because I like it best when students are here," he said. "Fall is particularly fun because of the positive energy."

Eben doesn't take summers off and spends these weeks making sure scheduling is done correctly; hiring to fill vacancies; overseeing the compiling and mailing of registration materials; and going through data to determine what works and what doesn't.

Even after 29 years, Eben said he still looks forward to the start of the school year.

But, this year is especially important, he added, because this is the third year of a three-year plan to change the culture of the school.

"Once you believe it can happen, it does happen," Eben said. "We are putting a culture in place that transcends change."

Teachers Jennifer Humphreys and Christine Andreasen have each been teaching for over 20 years, and they, too, are excited at the start of every school year. Click here to read about how they get ready for each school year.
