Paying Traffic Citations Easier, but Will Cost More in Mount Pleasant
Processing credit card payments on court night saves time and money, but fines are going up about $5 to cover processing costs.
Drivers who want to pay up front and avoid points on their licenses when they go to court will see bigger fines in Mount Pleasant to help cover credit card processing fees. The Village Board approved the proposal at the Jan. 23 Board meeting. This move does not affect the way payments are processed online; the customer is still responsible for those surcharges. Just like a retail merchant who uses credit card reading machines, the village is being charged a fee for this convenience, usually $3.95 per transaction. Unlike a clothing or electronics store, however, Mount Pleasant can't just up the price on certain goods to cover that cost. Heather, I know they had a meeting not to long ago. Maybe we should see what they say now. They had a meeting last week sometime is what I was told. It's just alarming how much these people put things back and back never make any progress on things that need to be taken care of!!!   more ›
