Here are the latest updates from the campaign trail in the upcoming recall elections.

Every day between now and the May 8 primary recall elections, Patch will provide regular updates on what's happening in the campaigns of those who want to be our next governor. Check back with this column throughout the day for the latest from the campaign trail. 2:05 p.m.: Falk wants DNR secretary fired Democratic gubernatorial candidate Kathleen Falk is calling for Republican Gov. Scott Walker to fire the state Department of Natural Resources secretary, The Huffington Post reports. Falk made the demand Monday at a news conference after the Wisconsin State Journal reported that the number of DNR environmental permit violation notices dropped to a 12-year low in 2011. Governor Walker did listen, and he has nothing to be sorry about. After 40 years of probably being over paid, I hope John Wiley doesn't let the door hit him in the butt and he retires comfortably in a state where he can find happiness. Take the money and run Johnny, it's really all that your 40 years have been about.   more ›

Gubernatorial Candidate Vinehout Says She Brings Something Different

Recall candidate has bills, plans and papers published on her legislative and campaign websites that outline how Gov. Walker could have balanced the budget without the divisiveness of Act 10.

Democratic gubernatorial candidate Kathleen Vinehout is well aware that voters around the state are not familiar with her or where she stands on issues like education, healthcare and getting the state's financial house in order. Before she got down to business, Vinehout was introduced by Trevor Jung, a sophomore at Case High School who is active in the local Democratic party. "I get a lot of 'Kathleen Who?'" she joked with a handful of supporters at The Grind Cafe Sunday in Mount Pleasant. "That's why we need to really understand the numbers of this whole budget thing and then spread the word through our social media networks. We need to be educated." Bill Wall, a resident from Racine, said he was at The Grind to find out more about …

Absolutely yes Vinehout. It will not be politics as usual with her in the governor's office. Vinehout will side with people over her own party when neccesary. Sometimes because of this she has received backwater commitee assignments. When she was tucked away into the audit commitee (a few years back)- she discovered fraudulent payments within the child care system. Vinehout will make a big …   more ›

Nielsen To Seek Recount for Branch 10 Judicial Race

Attorney Mark Nielsen trails attorney Timothy Boyle by 57 votes after the Board of Canvass was conducted by the Racine County Clerk's office.

Editor's Note: Mark Nielsen was mistakenly identified as the incumbent judge for Branch 10. Judge Richard Kreul is the incumbent and is retiring. We have made the correction and regret the error. Mark Nielsen, attorney and an incumbent judge in the Racine Municipal Court, announced today that he will file a petition with the state Government Accountability Board asking for a recount for the results of the Branch 10 Circuit Court race. He ran against Burlington lawyer Timothy Boyle on April 3, and lost by 61 votes on election day. After Racine County canvassed its votes and included some outstanding absentee ballots in the count, Nielsen was still behind, but only by 57 votes. In Wisconsin, recounts are not automatic and a candidate has to …

This recount isn't just about being disgruntle about the outcome of an election. It is all about the numbers. You must acknowledge that 57 votes out of over 32000 is a very small number. Les Aspin ran as a peace candidate in 1970, opposing the Vietnam War. In the Democratic primary he was opposed by Doug LaFollette, who was endorsed by the party. After losing the initial count by a few dozen …   more ›
