Caron Butler is Coming Home: Trade to Bucks Confirmed

Caron Butler is coming home, sort of, to play for the Milwaukee Bucks as part of a trade deal between the Bucks and the Phoenix Suns.

Hometown man Caron Butler is coming home in a manner of speaking now that a trade between the Phoenix Suns and the Milwaukee Bucks has been confirmed.

Butler, a Racine native and Park High School graduate, comes to the Bucks as a small forward in exchange for point guard Ish Smith and center Viacheslav Kravtsov, USAToday reported Thursday afternoon.

Sports writer Sam Amick notes that Butler's 11 years of experience could be just what the Bucks need to keep them competitive in the Eastern Conference.

"This fit is far better for the 11-year veteran, as he gets the chance he has longed for to play for his hometown team ... Bucks get a productive player that could help keep them in contention in the Eastern Conference," Amick writes.

Butler confirmed the trade in a phone interview with The Journal Times.

"I’m very excited. Ecstatic. Can’t wait,” Butler is quoted. “I never thought in a million years this was going to happen. I’m thoroughly excited.”
