USA chooses Ice Cube over Ice Burg - The cruel joke of the Sequestration

The cruel joke of the budget Sequestration. The country is already sinking.

The 85 billion dollar sequestration is not a debate on budget cuts . Its the debate on the level of Increased spending . It has nothing to do with actual cuts to a budget . The spending is going to continue to grow at staggering levels even if the sequestration occurs.

President Obama already has achieved significant tax increases on Business and the middle class via Obama Care. He got further Tax increases on the wealthiest Americans as well as the working class in the last Tax deal . This all at a time when the economy did not grow in the last quarter of the year.

This reality corresponds with the Obama Administration record spending in his first term as the DEBT of the nation has grown to 16.6 Trillion . The debt 10.6 Trillion when Obama took office. The Obama spending addiction has grown into a tax and regulation addiction . Perhaps the average Obama voter is clueless to the realities of this debt to even the next generation. Otherwise they would of not voted for more of the same .It is clearly a spending problem and it needs to be addressed in a real way for this nation to grow in prosperity. Something We all want long term. But currently we are chosing an immediate cookie over a well cooked steak . And if we continue to do so , even the cookies will crumble.

One of the only real solutions for the country is to grow the economy while actually cutting spending .A real CUT or Balance Budget amendment . We need to pay are bills but we need to do it in a way that doesn't commit the country to economic suicide . Than there are no winners.(just ask greece)

I am not optimistic about the nations future as it is over taxed , over regulated and the current admistration has a anti domestic energy policy. When you couple these anti capitalistic policies and add in the Obama spending addiction the nation looks more and more like the titanic and the Iceburg is closing in .While Obama plays Chicken Little as to what 85 billion dollars means to us all . He is really debating that an ice cube is a bigger threat than the ICE BURG. Sadly, too many Americans believe it .

Become dictator for a 5th term, prey upon people's ignorance and lie to them as Obama is doing.

Campaign slogan for Obama's 3rd term: Mo' Free Shit
Guaranteed to win another election.

You threw up as many shiny objects as you could to avoid talking about Obama's current spending issues. You remember Obama----the guy in office now. THe notion that these cuts could not happen painlessly is absurd. Your reply REGAN'S fault!
Young Conservative February 26, 2013 at 03:57 pm
FDR used to be the worst president this country has ever seen....that was until Barry Obongo was immaculated.
AWD February 26, 2013 at 03:58 pm
I say we take the sequester and multiply it. Cut defense to real national defense, not protecting the Muslim Brotherhood. Turn the millions of wealth-sucking public sector union workers into private sector producers. Get the federal monster out of our way and Americans will do what we do better than any country in the world, produce wealth! The government must be chopped down in size, scope and expense.
Lyle Ruble February 26, 2013 at 04:20 pm
@Bob McBride....Maybe you didn't notice, but I pointed out the real culprit is the oligarchy/plutocracy. We gave them what they wanted. But for conservatives and liberals to complain about which side did what is pathetic. George HW Bush had it right when he called it "Voodoo Economics". The problem with the price/labor spiral and out of control inflation we were faced with over three decades ago, never was effectively dealt with and the can was just kicked down the road with one short term solution after another until we found ourselves in an untenable position. We have a huge economic problem that isn't being dealt with. The economic systems that proved so positive for us in the past, are just that, in the past. Our economic system is based on continuous growth models. When the economy is unable to grow we suffer. We may have to look to economic systems of sustainability and not growth. It's time to think outside the box and see what we can come up with. If not, we will never fully recover and keep slipping into third nation status.
Lyle Ruble February 26, 2013 at 04:24 pm
@Craig....You have to quit thinking in the short run and look to the process and big picture. Part of the problem we've been suffering from is short term thinking and expectations. As the global economy works itself and a new world order emerges, we have to be patient and not get excited about every fluctuation.
Craig February 26, 2013 at 04:33 pm
Lyle: You are calling the second great depression a fluctuation?
Believe it or not, I do understand your point of view about patience with the world economy. My only problem with that is this: While we wait for wages to balance between emerging economies like China, we continue to spend like OUR economy is the world leader and booming. It is simply unsustainable long term. I often wonder and worry- is this the New World Order coming to fruition? If so, our best is behind us. Not trying to be all doom and gloom, but the rest of our lifetime will suck. Our kids have no future either- that is what bothers me the most.
Lyle Ruble February 26, 2013 at 04:40 pm
@Mr. Lundt....The "shinny objects" you refer to are just a few of the short term solutions to chronic problems. The failure of national leadership didn't start with Obama, but has been a continuous problem. No one has shown the long term thinking and planning needed to finally solve some of the most egregious issues. We are still attempting to build an economy on the industrial age and not the information age. We are still educating children to the needs of the past and not the needs of the present and future. There is not just one "shinny object" to pick, but it's the entire system of always taking the short term and not committing to the long term. The economic environment has already switched to a global system, but we are still stuck in a parochial view of the world. IT'S NOT ALL ABOUT US!
Lyle Ruble February 26, 2013 at 04:49 pm
@Craig....You finally are getting the picture. This is the New World Order! We are no longer able to control the forces that are thrust upon us. We will adapt and weather the transition, but that doesn't mean there won't be a great many causalities along the way. Philosophies and ideologies must change to where people are prepared for being a global citizen. The biggest gift to our children is to educate them to be global citizens. They must be educated to function in a global society. This is the education that my youngest children have received and I feel very positive for their future.
Young Conservative February 26, 2013 at 04:53 pm
More empty platitudes and worn out liberal cliches from the resident wilted flower child.
How about some specifics Mr Ruble? Enough with your platitudes.
Craig February 26, 2013 at 05:04 pm
Young Conservative: Have you read this one?
http://reagancoalition.com/articles/2013/20130226004-obama-2009-return.html?a=2 At least FDR only had one name and social security number.
Lyle Ruble February 26, 2013 at 05:27 pm
@Young Conservative...I'll give you a specific. To be global citizens we must drop our nationalistic patriotism and understand that we aren't exceptional. This has to begin in the school system with a program to teach children the value of human exceptionalism, but also responsibility for the adversity that our actions may cause, such as climate change.
Craig February 26, 2013 at 05:37 pm
Lyle: That sounds too much like late night television conspiracy theorists' network.
LNCTN...Maybe Al Gore should have tried that for his network before he sold out to our enemies.
skinnyDUDE February 26, 2013 at 05:41 pm

Sadly your solutions in most of you pieces are not solution driven or fiscally responsible . Just another spending program , I dont oppose New spending on true ideas to grow the economy instead of growing dependence on government.. As long as we can eliminate ALL the bad spending on bad ideas which is MASSIVE.. But no one can end a job servicing an awful idea in Washington . Asking a liberal to live in the Real world is quite a challenge when they think shrinking the economy with bad policy will somehow make the case that we are better off. By every economic measure Obama policies have been a EPIC FAIL . Even the housing bubble was caused by bad and irresponsible government policy. Just because politicians lie about the cause and effect doesn't mean anyone paying attention doesn't know better. Lyle it was Obama who said he would reduce the deficit by half by the end of his 1st term. He added 6 trillion in 4 years. By his own definition he is unpatriotic .Amazing you can defend it as it only shows you true lack of knowledge into a debate on not only fiscal responsibility but nation sustainability. If you or I spend 46 cents of borrowed money on everything we spend going into eternity do you think you will leave your kids much ?
Mr Lundt February 26, 2013 at 05:42 pm
Lyle
You love to switch from details to the abstract to avoid talking about Obama and his spending. No sane person argues that there is not massive wasted government spending. Obama and the left are being given the chance erase a sliver of the waste. All we are getting from the left it 1) The sky is falling 2) It's Bush's fault It is not reasonable to negotiate a settlement with such extreme zealots--there is no satisfying them. Obama is being given the option of targeted cuts--he is refusing. He wants politically dramatic cuts to further his agenda ---and to hell with the people.

Bob McBride February 26, 2013 at 05:51 pm
Yes, I noticed Lyle and passed it by as I always do, because it's nothing more than the usual attempt to identify a domestic culprit and demonize it rather than accept the global nature of the issue. It's complicated so we have to find someone/something to blame. You blaming the "oligarchy/plutocracy" is no different than others blaming "socialists/Marxists".
Lyle Ruble February 26, 2013 at 05:54 pm
@skinnyDude....I don't disagree that we need to be fiscally responsible; but, is spending $600 to $700 billion on the military and weapon systems being fiscally responsible? For every program you support I probably oppose. As far as growth of the debt under Obama, how much of that was spent to prevent a complete collapse? I am not happy that we've had to spend so much to survive the worst economic downturn such the "Great Depression". It is time to give up the idea of American Exceptionalism and become Global Citizens. The best you can do for your children is to provide an education that will function well for their future. Beyond that, it is up to them to live in the world and make the best of it.
Lyle Ruble February 26, 2013 at 06:08 pm
@Bob McBride....Did I identify which oligarchy/plutocracy. The members of this group are internationalists to begin with. They make their wealth and retain their power no matter what.
Chris February 26, 2013 at 06:12 pm
Lyle, didn't mean to flag your comment...sorry about that.
Lyle Ruble February 26, 2013 at 06:45 pm
@Mr Lundt....Whose extreme zealots, the right or the left? As a matter of fact, part of the problem is that politically the extreme rightists and extreme leftists are like runaway horses with the bit in their teeth. It has become a standoff and is resulting in a paralysis of action. Get your Tea Party Patriots out and we'll get our extreme liberals out and proceed from there.
Mr Lundt February 26, 2013 at 07:29 pm
"Get your Tea Party Patriots out and we'll get our extreme liberals out and proceed from there."
Please---this is the same crap we heard when the dems held all three branches of power. The repubs have said OK Obama target your cuts and he refuses--he simply wants to inflict pain. You reply---TEA PARTY. Lame but blaming others appears to be all you have because accountability you reject.
Steve ® February 26, 2013 at 07:41 pm
Dear Obama voters:
Obama February 23, 2009: ► “Today I’m pledging to cut the deficit we inherited in half by the end of my first term in office. This will not be easy. It will require us to make difficult decisions and face challenges we’ve long neglected. But I refuse to leave our children with a debt that they cannot repay — and that means taking responsibility right now, in this administration, for getting our spending under control.”◄ Yet he did the opposite.
Mr Lundt February 26, 2013 at 07:59 pm
Steve
According to Lyle that is because of the tea party. Apparently the same reason Obama ignored his own debt commission.
Bob McBride February 26, 2013 at 08:34 pm
Lyle,
Up until this point you've been referencing our domestic situation. If you're now suggesting that both Democratic and Republican leaders in this country have, for almost 30 years, been under the sway of some sort of global oligarchical/plutocratic cabal, then you're essentially admitting that you subscribe to the mother of all conspiracy theories, the infamous "New World Order". Is that the case?
Urban Pioneer February 26, 2013 at 11:21 pm
Lyle We were trying to get the government to shrink it's roles in spending even then. The fact is: even the GOP of the last 25 years hasn't been terribly "Conservative" until just the most recent years. The great influence of the TEA Party movement and retirements of many RINO's and DINO's has led this group closer to the front. Cantor Ryan and others get it. Boehner might be the last of the slghtly more RINO's out in our leadership. We shall see how tough he holds over the next 4-6-8 weeks. the CR is coming the Sequester is coming and another Debt cieling debate are all coming. Prez. Obama better start finding some thing to cut..start with postponing Obama-cares implementation another 2 years.
Urban Pioneer February 26, 2013 at 11:28 pm
WW FDR Do? He would use even more letters from his alphabet soup style of governance until a World War could mask over his failures.

skinnyDUDE February 27, 2013 at 08:42 pm

For Liberals it is not about making Honest statements with commitments to back them up . It is about growing government control of peoples lives and eliminating freedom . Any Liberal that is paying attention knows Obama is a bald face Liar. That reality is a basic fact of life . But it doesnt matter when you sell your soul to the devil . In Fact, they lie to each other on things that are clearly False. Like Obama Care. The entire bill was a budgeting gimmick to sell it . Clearly, it will costs Trillions in unfunded entitlements in a relatively short period of time. Lies dont matter only the agenda. The ends justify the means. Perhaps these Liberal Kool Aid drinkers are quiet as a church mouse because they cant dispute Obama said those words AND they cant admit he is a liar.
