Racine Unified Board Approves $1.28 million in Maintenance Projects

Work approved by the board includes roof repairs and asphalt replacement.

Three elementary schools will get roof repairs and four schools have new asphalt parking lots or driveways following contract approvals by the Racine Unified School District Board of Education on Monday, April 18.

The projects, totaling $1.28 million, are being paid from a designated facilities maintenance fund that was approved by voters in 2008.

The roof repairs, to be done in August by Carlson Racine Roofing, include:

  • Goodland Elementary ($171,941)
  • Schulte Elementary and Jefferson Lighthouse Elementary ($383,500)

The asphalt replacement projects, which are expected to last 20 years, were awarded to Payne & Dolan:

  • Gifford Elementary (north and east of the building: $312,284)
  • Wadewitz Elementary (south and west of the building: $43,348)
  • Gilmore Middle (circle drives north and west of the building: $184,880)
  • Horlick High (south and west of the building: $184,215)
