It's About Time: Speaker's Briefing for August 22, 2013

I’m State Representative Robin Vos and this is the Speaker’s Briefing.

Assembly Republicans are proposing increasing the speed limit on highways in Wisconsin from 65 to 70 miles per hour. 36 states have increased their speed limits to at least 70; Wisconsin will soon be the only state in the upper Midwest that hasn’t. It’s about time we did, for businesses, tourism and families.

Representative Paul Tittl is authoring legislation that will help you get home to your family a little quicker. More people are living farther away from work than ever before, and about 5 percent of us spend at least two hours commuting every day!

Increasing the speed limit will benefit tourism by helping people get across the state more quickly, from the Dells to the Northwoods to Lambeau. Likewise it’ll help businesses by more swiftly moving goods from creators to consumers.

We hope to make it a reality soon, right here in Wisconsin.
