Cutting Taxes and Increasing Education Funding
I’m State Representative Robin Vos and this is the Speaker’s Briefing.
The Joint Finance Committee Wednesday finished months of work improving the Governor’s budget proposal, and I am extremely happy with the results.
This budget directly benefits middle class families in our state by reducing tax rates for everyone, which will mean more money in your pocket. We were able to more than double the cut the Governor proposed – and - simplify the tax code so that you don’t need an accounting degree to do your taxes.

By investing in education, we are setting up for future success. For starters, we increased statewide per-pupil funding by $150 each year of the biennium. We also expanded the school choice program so that children statewide can have the opportunity to succeed.
Our budget is responsible with taxpayer dollars. Fiscal projections show minimal property tax increases on the average state home. To do that, we had to make some tough choices that include no increase in state employment and reducing our debt payments to an amount less than the Governor proposed.

This budget will help bring economic prosperity to Wisconsin, and I’m eager to vote on it later this month. If you would like to learn more about the budget and other initiatives, I encourage you to visit my website, SpeakerVos.com.
