I’m State Representative Robin Vos and this is the Speaker’s Briefing.

The Assembly was honored to host the 14th Dalai Lama during our session on Tuesday. I’m glad his holiness could come and share his message of respect and a love for democracy. Part of our job in the Assembly is to protect what democracy stands for.

AB-161 brings balance to the separation of powers and doesn’t stop the court from being able to do its duties. Rather it expedites due process—for both political parties—so that there can be certainty for people impacted by laws. We just want the courts to be able to hear the merits of a case and not make a snap decision based on politics.

We also addressed banking regulations, income tax rules for fallen soldiers, and clarified penalties for drunk driving. Learn more about the things we’re doing to streamline government at my website, SpeakerVos.com.
