Boosting the Middle Class through Smart Budgeting

I’m State Representative Robin Vos and this is the Speaker’s Briefing.

The state budget is the best way for the legislature to help create a business-friendly environment and help create jobs in Wisconsin. Assembly Republicans have spent the last three years setting Wisconsin up for long-term success and we’re beginning to see those plans pay off.

There are some very good things in the new budget that we’re taking up on June 18th. Not only are we spending and borrowing less than in the governor’s proposal, we are also making a bigger investment in middle class families through a major income tax cut. That’s money kept in your pocket that can benefit your community. 

We have done this while continuing to fund essential programs in a way that respects you, the taxpayer. In fact, property tax increases will be minimal and there will be a small surplus in the state’s check book at the end of the biennium.

I’m excited about the great things our budget will do for Wisconsin, and will gladly join my colleagues in voting for it.
