We had to wait an extra week, but The Big Chill promises to be worth it! There are many things to see and down in Racine County this weekend. Here are our suggestions.
Snow sculpting amazement. The huge blocks of packed snow will be ready and waiting in Downtown Racine's Monument Square by 4 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20. That's when 16 of the state's best two-person sculpting teams will start competing for Wisconsin State Snow Sculpting Championship. The teams will work until noon Sunday and the winner will be announced at 2 p.m. Drop by to watch them in action all weekend. Stroll on down to the Racine Arts Council, 316 Sixth St. to see an exhibit of snow sculpture artwork and a display showing the 21-year history of the Wisconsin State Snow Sculpting Championship.
Irish eyes are laughing. The Irish Comedy Tour comes to Memorial Hall, 72 Seventh St., on Friday. Comedians Derek Richards, Mike McCarthy and Jim Campbell promise an evening of raucous fun. Doors open at 6 p.m. for samples of authentic Irish cuisine. The show starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door. Visit www.theirishcomedytour.com.

Comedy opens at RTG. "Glorious!" a comedy about a New York socialite with a passion for singing and a horrible voice, opens at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Racine Theatre Guild, 2519 Northwestern Ave. Performances continue on weekends through Sunday, Feb. 5. More laughs coming. The "2012 Snowdance 10 Minute Comedy Festival" kicks off next Friday, Jan. 27 at the Sixth Street Theatre, 318 Sixth St. The Over Our Head Players will be presenting 10 original comedies. At each performance, audience members can vote for their favorite. The playwrights receiving the most audience votes at the end of festival win cash prizes. There are 19 performances scheduled through Feb. 26. Seating is limited, so make reservations early by calling 262-632-6802 or visiting www.overourheadplayers.org.

Thank you! Racine County people once again proved that they have big hearts. Thanks to many generous donations, Real Racine collected 72 pairs of warm mittens and gloves plus scarves and hats for the Great Lakes Mitten Campaign. The items are being donated to the Homeless Assistance Leadership Organization (HALO) which serves homeless individuals and families in Racine County.
