Bluegrass on tap.  Freshwater, a five-piece, traditional bluegrass band takes the stage at this week's Music on the Monument, Friday, Aug. 24. The free concert runs from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Monument Square in Downtown Racine. Visit www.racinedowntown.com

RSO plays favorites.  Its "Pick of the Pops" at the RSO Summer Pops Concert at Festival Hall. 5 Fifth St., this Friday. The musical program was selected by Pops concert audiences. Be ready to be surprised with some of your favorites! Advance tickets are $23 general admission, $5 for students and $32.50 for reserved seating. Unformed active duty and reserve military personnel are admitted free. Orchard walk for a cause. The annual MS Orchard Walk and Fundraiser is 9 a.m. Saturday at Apple Holler, 5006 S. Sylvania Ave, Yorkville. The $20 registration includes a one-mile walk around the orchard, a quarter-peck of apples, an apple pancake breakfast and a raffle ticket. An old-fashioned picnic.  A day of family fun is on tap at the Dover-Kansasville Hometown Picnic from noon to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Eagle Lake County Park, 2114 Deerfield Road, Dover. Organizers are planning live music, food, a dog agility demonstration, kids games and antique tractors. The day wraps up with a boat parade and fireworks.

Let's go flying.  If you're into model aircraft, you'll want to attend the Racine R/C Club's annual Fun Fly. Radio-controlled aircraft enthusiasts from throughout the area will gather near the Village of Mount Pleasant compost site from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. Head to the 11000 block of Washington Avenue (Highway 20) and look for the signs. Visit www.racinercclub.com
