Let's Get Ready to Party on the Pavement

One of the Racine area's most popular annual events--Party on the Pavement--is here at last! There is plenty more to see in do in Racine County this weekend - Real Racine has ideas for you.

One of the Racine area's most popular annual events—Party on the Pavement—is here at last! Head to Downtown Racine for a Saturday afternoon and evening of family fun. But, that’s just one of many, many things to see and do in Racine County.

Continue on to Friday. Head to Downtown Racine for First Friday from 4-9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5. There is free admission to the Racine Art Museum all evening, shops and galleries are open with live music and specials. It will be a great evening to take a horse-drawn carriage ride from Monument Square. Visit www.firstfridaysracine.com.

Let the party begin! It's the big 10th Anniversary Party on the Pavement from noon to 7 p.m. in Downtown Racine. Park your car, or take the bus, and walk up and down Sixth and Main streets and Wisconsin Avenue for live music from six stages. The street festival also includes arts and crafts, a unique antique vehicle show, food stands, kiddie rides, a giant slide and children's activities. Visit www.racinedowntown.com

Honoring one of our own. The Racine Family YMCA holds Caron Butler Day from 1-3 p.m. Saturday at the Sealed Air YMCA, 8501 Campus Drive. You’ll see a photo gallery of Butler’s basketball career, a video presentation highlighting his career from Park High School through the NBA and hear from guest speakers. There is also a mini training camp, refreshments and registration for the Caron Butler Fall Youth Basketball League.

One more weekend.  “Dead Man's Cell Phone” concludes its run at the Sixth Street Theatre, 318 Sixth St., this weekend. The play, presented by Over Our Head Players, is described as a dark comedy relevant to today. Call 262-632-6802 or visit www.overourheadplayers.org for tickets and show times.

Plan ahead and save.  Real Racine Skeleton Skamper Half-Marathon, 5K Run/Walk and Kids Trick-or-Treat Walk is Saturday, Oct. 27— less than a month away. You can save money by registering now. The half-marathon fee is $40 until next Friday, Oct. 12 and goes up to $50 after that. The 5K fee is $20 (with a guaranteed t-shirt) until Oct. 12. It increases to $25.
