It's Fair Week - and More in Racine County

The Racine County Fair is under way! Get ready for corn dogs, midway rides, animals and blue ribbon entertainment. But that's not all. Real Racine has the scoop on food, music and family fun.

The last week in July means one thing in Racine County—Fair Time! The 2012 Racine County Fair is just part of the fun this weekend. You'll also find music, ethnic food and even a look at outer space.

"Barn to be Wild." The Racine County Fair is under way now through Sunday, July 29 at the fairgrounds in Union Grove. You'll find entertainment for everybody, including a carnival midway, livestock judging, all kinds of food and live entertainment from concerts to demolition derbies. General admission is $8 for adults and $6 for senior citizens and kids ages 8 through 13. Kids age 7 and younger get in free. There is free parking. Visit www.racinecountyfair.com

An Italian holiday.  The Roma Lodge Italian Festival opens at 4 p.m. Friday and runs through 9:30 p.m. Sunday at Festival Park, 5 Fifth St. You can catch nearly nonstop music on two stages and eat delicious Italian specialties, including bomber sandwiches, pizza, mostaccioli and ravioli. Fireworks are at 9:15 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Admission is $5 for adults. Kids age 12 and younger are free when accompanied by an adult.

Summer stargazing.  You can view stars, planets and outer space at a free open house at the Modine-Benstead Observatory, Highway A and 63rd Drive in the Town of Yorkville. The Racine Astronomical Society will have telescopes set up for viewing. Call 262-878-2774 to check on weather conditions. Details at www.rasastro.org

Motorcycles for a cause.  Ride With The Flame, a motorcycle ride to benefit Special Olympics, starts at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Route 20 Outhouse, 14001 Washington Ave. (Highway 20.) The registration fee is $15 and riders are encouraged to collect pledges. The ride will wrap up with a pig roast and party at 5 p.m. Visit www.RideWithTheFlame.com

Sunday concert.  The weekly Racine Concert Band appearance is at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the Racine Zoo amphitheater, 2131 N. Main St. This week's vocalist is Jeanie Hatfield. Chris Tomaloff will perform on the xylophone. Bring your blanket or lawn chair and enjoy a summer music tradition.
