It's An Arts Weekend in Racine County

Music, poetry, a new art exhibit. It's an arts weekend in Racine County. Real Racine has the scoop.

This weekend, there's an emphasis on the arts in Racine County. Music, poetry and a new exhibition are among the options. Come along for our weekend suggestions.

All that jazz.  The latest installment of Jean's Jazz Series features jazz/blues pianist Tim Clausen and the hot Latin jazz of Los Perros Cubanos. The show starts at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25 at the Racine Theatre Guild, 2519 Northwestern Ave. A limited number of seats are still available. Poetry and music.  Bonk! is the Racine Arts Council's monthly performance series that always offers variety. Featured this Saturday are poets Amanda Smeltz and Paul Martinez Pompa and musician Evan Maruszewski. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. at 316 Sixth Street and the performances start at 6 p.m. Admission is free. Details at: www.bonkperformanceseries.wordpress.com

Shiny and collectible.  Interested in coins, currency, stock certificates, jewelry and other collectibles? The 74th Annual Coin Show, sponsored by the Racine Numismatic Society, has it all. More than 50 displays and dealers will be on hand from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Roma Lodge, 7130 Spring St. It's free.

Youthful performances.  The Kiwanis Youth Symphony presents a concert at 2 p.m. Sunday at First Presbyterian Church, 716 College Ave.  KYS members come from area elementary, middle and high schools. Admission is free.

New at RAM.  "Out on a Limb: Contemporary Wood Jewelry" opens Sunday at the Racine Art Museum, 441 Main St. This exhibition features the work of artists who use the compelling color, patterns and texture of wood as the primary media for jewelry and adornment. The exhibition runs through June 17. RAM is open from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. Visit www.ramart.org.
