A Great Weekend for Racine County Cycling

It's shaping up to be a GREAT weekend for bicycling through the countryside. Come along for these and other activities with Real Racine.

        It's FINALLY warm enough for bicycling through the countryside. Come along for this and other weekend events with Real Racine.

 

            Take a scenic bicycle ride.  The 10th Annual Two Wheels for Two Counties is Saturday, May 18. Registration starts at 6:30 a.m. at Waterford High School. The ride, sponsored by the KR Bike Club, features four route options, ranging from 25 miles to 100 miles. The loops start and finish at Waterford High School and include a rest stop at Eagle Lake Park. Proceeds benefit cycling causes in Kenosha and Racine counties. Visit www.krbikeclub.com.

            Spring singing.  The Choral Arts Society of Southeastern Wisconsin wraps up its season with "Choral Acoustic Fusion" at 7 p.m. Friday at the Racine Masonic Center, 1012 Main St. The performance features guitarist Zachery Scot Johnson, a Racine native.             Pick up a plant or two.  The Potpourri Garden Club's perennial plant sale is 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Regency Mall east parking lot (Target store side), 5538 Durand Ave. Club members donate the proceeds right back the community. Their wonderful handiwork can be seen throughout the area, including the flower beds at the Real Racine Visitor Center.

 

            Rugby is here!  Please join us in welcoming the 2013 Girls National High School Rugby Championships to Racine County this weekend. This three-division features teams from as far away as California, Utah, Maryland and New York. About 800 to 1,000 participants, coaches and families are expected. Play starts at 9 a.m. Saturday and Sunday at the SCORe Soccer Complex, 9509 Dunkelow Road, Franksville. The championship is at 12:30 p.m. Sunday.             Back on TV.  Don't miss the next "Discover Wisconsin" TV episode featuring Lake Michigan's Harbor Towns. It has stops up and down the Lake Michigan shoreline, including the Wind Point Lighthouse and Racine's North Beach. You can catch it at 10 a.m. Saturday on Fox Sports Wisconsin (check your cable TV listing) and at 10 a.m. Sunday on WITI-TV, Channel 6.

 

            Celebrate with FREE admission!  You can celebrate Wisconsin Museums Week and International Museum Day on Saturday with FREE admission to the Racine Art Museum (RAM), 441 Main St. They're open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visit www.ramart.org for details.
