Village Voters Choose Romney Over Santorum

We all know by now that Mitt Romney took Wisconsin for the Republican presidential preference primary, but here's how you voted in Mount Pleasant and Sturtevant. Despite not being on the ballot, both Michele Bachmann and Jon Huntsman both grabbed some vot

It's still a long way to the Republican convention when the party will name their nominee to run against President Barack Obama, but voters in both villages sent a clear message that Mitt Romney is their choice.

After the polls closed, Sturtevant's numbers came in pretty fast. Village Clerk/Deputy Treasurer Mary Cole read the numbers off the tape:

  • Mitt Romney, 301
  • Rick Santorum, 254
  • Ron Paul, 50
  • Newt Gingrich, 40
  • Jon Huntsman, 5
  • Michele Bachmann, 4

Over in Mount Pleasant, the results trickled in a little more slowly since there are seven polling locations that need to be counted. Again, Romney came out ahead:

  • Mitt Romney, 2,140
  • Rick Santorum, 1,254
  • Ron Paul, 325
  • Newt Gingrich, 197
  • Michele Bachmann, 17
  • Jon Huntsman, 26

Broken down by location in Mount Pleasant, Romney outscored Santorum almost two-to-one, with the shortest distance between them coming out of Messiah Lutheran (Wards 17, 18 and 20); 200 to 143, respectively.
