Update: Village Board Meeting in Closed Session to Discuss Clerk/Treasurer Department

As part of the board's decision to wait on hiring a new Village Administrator, trustees are gathering information from each municipal department.

The week after the Mount Pleasant Village Board voted on May 9 to terminate former Village Administrator Mike Andreasen, trustees voted to keep in place the interim management team of Village President Carolyn Milkie, Development Director Ron Meyer, and Clerk/Treasurer Debra Salas until a more definitive course of action could be determined.

In the meantime, a meeting was scheduled on June 20 for a work session in order for the board to evaluate the state of the village with the management team in place. That meeting will still take place, but will now be in closed session to review the responsibilities of the Clerk/Treasurer Department.

"This is just the first step in what will be a review of every department so the board has a better understanding of what everyone does and how all the pieces fit together," said Village President Carolyn Milkie. "We'll be moving on to the other departments as well."

Salas is the village's clerk/treasurer. She replaced Juliet Edmands in May after the Village Board switched the position from an elected to an appointed post.

The meeting will be held at 3 pm on Mon., June 20 at Village Hall, 8811 Campus Drive, in the B116 Conference Room.
