Upcoming Trustee Seats Available in Mount Pleasant & Sturtevant
April 3, 2012 will bring us to the polls for many elections. Some of them being for Village Trustees for Mount Pleasant and Sturtevant.
Election season has officially begun on the local level. Thurs., Dec. 1, marked the date residents of both villages could start gathering signatures supporting their run for one of three trustee seats each in Mount Pleasant and Sturtevant.
Mount Pleasant
Three trustee seats will be up for election this coming spring. Each position pays $6,500 annually and has a term beginning April 17, 2012 through April 21, 2014. These seats are currently held by Harry Manning, Jerry Garski and Gary Feest.

Interested residents will need to turn in a Candidate Registration Statement, a Declaration of Candidacy and Nomination Papers by January 3, 2012 at 5 pm. All guidelines and forms can be obtained through the Village Clerk located at , 8811 Campus Drive.
Trustees will be sworn in within five business days of the election and will take office the 3rd Tuesday in April. Mount Pleasant Village Board meetings are held at 7 pm the second and fourth Mondays of the month. Trustees are also required to serve on various standing committees that meet during the day and attend public hearings as needed. Trustees will be appointed to a rotating term on a committee by the Village President.

Sturtevant
There are also three trustees seats up for election in this spring. Each position pays $7,500 annually and has a 2-year term beginning April 17, 2012. These seats are currently being held by Linda Busha, Gary Johnson and Daryl Lynaugh.
Nomination papers must be turned in no later than 5:00 pm on Tues., Jan. 3, 2012, to Mary Cole, clerk/deputer treasurer, at Village Hall, 2801 89 Street in Sturtevant. If a primary is necessary, that elecion will be held on Tues., Feb. 21, 2012.
The Trustee Board meets every first and third Tuesdays of each month, and Continual Committee meetings are held on the second and fourth Tuesdays. All meetings begin at 6 pm at Village Hall unless otherwise noticed.
