Tyson Fettes Has Been Tapped as Register of Deeds

Governor Scott Walker's office made the announcement on July 13.

Tyson Fettes is looking forward to serving Racine County as the Register of Deeds because of how much he loves his community.

"I am proud and passionate about my community," he said. "This is just another way for me to make a difference."

Governor Scott Walker announced Fettes' appointment on July 13.

Fettes was elected for his third term in April 2011 as a Town of Burlington Supervisor and he said he plans to serve out his term unless his duties as Register of Deeds prove too much.

Fettes said he is thrilled to have been chosen for his new position and he looks forward to working with the team in the office, including Tracy Feichtner, deputy register.

"The whole team in the office is just incredible," he added. "Tracy, in particular, is such an asset and has done such a great job."

In his statement about Fettes' appointment, Walker said, "Tyson Fettes’s professional background brings a wealth of customer service which will serve the office well as it transitions under his leadership. As a Supervisor for the Town of Burlington, Tyson has garnered the respect and trust necessary in a public official."

As the Register of Deeds, Fettes said he will carry forward with Jim Ladwig's focus on customer service. Ladwig was elected in April 2011 as the County Executive for Racine County. Fettes said he wants to continue Ladwig's dedication to efficiencies as well.

"Jim really did a lot to make the office more efficient and really focus on service," Fettes added. "I want to keep that going, like using a new software that takes key information off documents as they're scanned, which cuts down costs with time, manpower and potential mistakes."

One of the first tasks Fettes said he wants to tackle is meeting with the municipal leaders throughout the county about what they need from the Register's office.

"I want to know what we can do better to make their jobs easier," he said.

Fettes will be sworn in on July 26 at the Racine County Courthouse. The ceremony is tentatively scheduled to begin at 3 pm. Fettes' term expires on January 7, 2013.
