Sturtevant Village Board Will Meet in Closed Session to Talk Collective Bargaining

Now that the state budget has been passed, village leaders want to formulate a plan for handling negotiations with municipal unions.

When Sturtevant Village Administrator Mark Janiuk walks into meetings with municipal unions, he have instructions and a strategy for getting the most fair deal possible for both the village and its employees.

Despite the state budget being approved by both houses of the state Legislature but not yet signed by Governor Scott Walker, the Committee of the Whole will meet in closed session tonight, June 21, to talk about a strategy for collective bargaining for negotiations with municipal unions.

"The unions have been very patient with us as we waited out the state budget process," said Trustee Chris Wright. "This is a way for the Administrator and department supervisors to give reports."
