Sturtevant Committee Meeting Addresses Fences, Parks, Budget, and More

Residents are invited to the bi-weekly village committee meeting to ask questions and participate in village business.

Every second and fourth Tuesday of the month, Sturtevant holds its committee meetings.

That's right.

Every committee meets on the same night to discuss and debate various issues and situations that are part and parcel of running a village. Residents are invited to attend the meetings and participate in the discussion by asking questions and offering feedback.

Like the Village Board meeting on the first and third Tuesday of each month, the committee meeting has an agenda.

This week, the Storm Water & Waste Water Committee will continue talking about possible solutions to the problem of drainage and easements in portions of Majestic Hills.

Community Events, Beautification, & Cultural Committee will give an update on how plans are progressing for the annual fireworks display while Public Works/Capital Improvements will talk about painting handrails, shelters and lights at the Sturtevant Amtrak Depot.

Additional items on the agenda include an on-going discussion of the village's budget even as the state budget is undergoing debate in Madison. With the village facing a possible $240,000 shortfall because of reductions in state shared revenue, Village Administrator Mark Janiuk introduced several ideas a few weeks ago for the board to consider for cost savings.

The Sturtevant Committee Meeting starts at 6 pm at Village Hall, 2801 89th Street. Call (262) 886-7200.
