Congressman Paul Ryan has swept through the First Congressional District of Wisconsin a few times this year to talk with residents about how he thinks American can get back on track.
Those ideas for tax reform, spending freezes and tackling federal entitlement programs have certainly gotten a lot of attention, especially over the last several months.
The editors at Time Magazine certainly think he's hit on something: Time Magazine has named Ryan one of its Runners-Up for "Person of the Year."
What do you think? Does Ryan deserve this recognition?
That's because the unwashed millions have no understanding of economics or the predicatment the US is in. Paul Ryan is one of the few who gets it. He clearly sees the big picture and has a plan. Critics get lost in the forest for the trees, and doom the US to repeat the failures of past Empires. Paul Ryan met with Professor Niall Ferguson, who was highly impressed by Mr. Ryan. You can gain a better understanding of the economic issues facing America in this lecture by Niall Ferguson: Empires on the Edge of Chaos (it is 1 hr. 14 min long, you can skip the 9 min. intro.) http://fora.tv/2010/07/28/Niall_Ferguson_Empires_on_the_Edge_of_Chaos#fullprogram
He's just doing his job, and a damn fine job that he's doing at that! He's one of the only members of Congress that is actually attempting to deal with our country's fiscal reality and has proposed some solutions worth considering. Ryan in 2012 and beyond!
"Paul Ryan is a hypocrite. Until he announces his willingness to renounce his sweet Congressional pension and healthcare plan in favor of his abysmal Medicare voucher plan concept, he will continue to be a hypocrite." Once again, you really need to read Ryan's plan as opposed to only the partisan/biased analysis and spin of it found on the liberal blogs that you frequent, as your assertions here couldn't be farther from the truth/reality of the situation. In all truth and reality, Ryan wants to replace the current Medicare and SS system with the “sweet Congressional pension and healthcare plan” that he is privy to in order to save both of those institutions from bankruptcy. Poor misguided Bren, so gullible in buying into the lefty talking points, rhetoric, and propaganda. Try again!
Don't live a half life! Read, ponder, research, and learn how to recognize shinola (or a steaming pile) when you step in it!
Like a true liberal, you attempt to relate two very separate issues and even then must rely upon 'inferences' in order to make the conclusions that you do, while insulting others for only working within the confines of the facts as they exist in reality, free from your suppositions, speculations, conspiracy theories, inferences, and wild conjecture. "... and learn how to recognize shinola (or a steaming pile) when you step in it!" Hmmm..., the bigger 'steaming pile' when it comes to health care reform appears to be Obamacare, which raids so much money from Medicare, that when combined with the payroll tax cuts and increasing costs will effectively bankrupt Medicare by 2016. Several of Obamacare's alternative funding mechanisms have already been shown not to work as originally anticipated, so where is Obama going to get the rest of the revenue needed to fund the cornerstone piece of legislation defining his administration? Hmmm.... I wonder! Wake up and try again Bren! Ryancare vs Obamacare - I'll take Ryancare any day of the week! Who here would honestly prefer Obamacare?
It's amazing how you characterize Ryan's pension as being "a sweet pension on the taxpayer's dime," but when characterizing the pension that a non-elected public sector (union or non-union) employee gets, it's 'a part of their overall compensation package,' as you've stated time and again on boards pertaining to Walker's curtailing of public sector union's CB privileges and the related salary contributions to their health care and pension benefits. So, here’s how things look in Bren’s world: Ryan = sweet pension on the taxpayer’s dime Public sector (union or non-union) employee = pension that is part of their overall compensation package Once again, how is it that you're not an extreme HYPOCRITE and PARTISAN HACK?
Ryan for VP? http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2010/08/29/world/main6816634.shtml
