Paul Ryan Congressional Ads Now Appearing in 1st District

Congressman Paul Ryan released his first ad in the 1st Congressional District highlighting the need for people to make decisions, not the government.

While Congressman Paul Ryan campaigns near Green Bay today as one half of the Republican presidential ticket, his 1st congressional re-election ad is playing in Southeast Wisconsin.

Released Wednesday in Milwaukee and Madison, the ad features Ryan speaking to a small group at a cafe about how the November election is the voters' chance to put America back on the right track.

"It focuses on the critical choice before voters this November and the importance of electing leaders who are capable of advancing solutions that get America back on track," campaign manager Kevin Seifert is quoted as saying in a story from WISN.

The same WISN story states Ryan's campaign confirmed that having a challenger - Democrat Rob Zerban - didn't influence the decision to start running ads because this is how a Ryan campaign is usually run.

Still, a Zerban campaign staffer told the news station that the size of the ad buy - reported to be $2 million - is a clear signal that Ryan knows he has a serious opponent.

"A $2 million ad buy, that's bigger then he has put up against any of his opponents, ever," Campaign Manager Al Benninghoff told WISN.

Ryan is in Wisconsin campaigning as the Vice President candidate. According to a story from our media partners at Fox 6, he is hosting a town hall meeting today in De Pere. to have lunch with firefighters there to commemorate 9/11, but he was not campaigning for either race during the stop.

On Tuesday, on Oct. 25. While Zerban's camp has said he's definitely interested in participating, neither candidate has responded yet to the invitation.

As the ABC News political blog notes, Ryan is not the first Vice Presidential candidate to also run for his existing seat. Vice President Joe Biden continued to run in 2008; Joe Lieberman ran two races in 2000; and so did Lyndon Johnson in 1960.

"And it’s worth noting- all of these men won those state races," the blog concludes.

Keith Deschler running as the Libertarian candidate in this race would be far superior to either Ryan or Zerban.

OK,
lets explore Mr. Ryan's statements. "Americans" or "we" do not need a large government controlling them/us? limit what Government can do? Get on the right track? So the first thing that comes to my mind is why is Ryan's party is passing law after law limiting the rights and controlling the rights of "us" ? Heathcare, A women's right to choose, voting rights. In each of these cases they want to take away things "we" want by a good percent of "Us/We". This seems to contradictory to what Mr. Ryan is saying? Limited Government, so Mr. Ryan wants to limit what "Government can do and IS doing" So in the case of letting the banks and wall street do pretty much what they want , this is saying NOW the government setup to HELP the people can NOT help the people? Now the banks and wall street will be able to setup new mortgage gimmicks and take our money again and force us out of homes again as there WAS NO CONTROL ON THEM? Seems to be a common theme with the GOP, get ride of government so that Corporations who are NOT people and the wealthy can have free run while the rest of the working class pays the bills? This seems like another make you feel good about me, but if you think about what they are trying to do its really going to hurt.

I agree the choice is critical in November. I don't agree that electing leaders who plan to rehire the Bush 43 advisers who burst the economic bubble is going to get us 'back on track,' definitely the reverse.
I don't have an issue with Ryan running for two seats, that's a Ayn Rand-approved act of "rational self interest." Does anyone else find wanting to limit the form of government that We the People have fought and died for since the Revolutionary War as unpatriotic and seditious as I do? We don't need to make OUR voices smaller, we need to make the influence of special interests smaller. Why should some people get preferential treatment?

Do Mr. Ryan's ads mentioned that he FORGOT about 9/11 first responders and VOTED TWICE AGAINST the bill to provide them necessary healthcare, and then he was not present when the third vote PASSED the 9/11 First Responder Healthcare Bill! What a shame!
http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2012/09/on-eve-of-911-anniversary-paul-ryans-opposition-to-first-responders-bill-revisited/ http://www.dailykos.com/story/2012/09/11/1130324/-Paul-Ryan-Voted-AGAINST-9-11-First-Responders-3X-Romney-Failed-To-Thank-9-11-First-Responders Paul Ryan is an EXTREMIST and a liar.

"... we need to make the influence of special interests smaller. Why should some people get preferential treatment?"
You're right Bren. The largest special interest of all is government perpetuating itself at the expense of our diminishing liberty. Should be enough for even you to reject the party of big government.

Ryan will win for the same reason that Walker beat the recall. The needs and attitudes of Wisconsites have changed.

I did catch this commercial - only pieces of it though. I think it may have been edited. I mean, I saw the part where Mr. Ryan said he opposed the stimulous, yet must have missed his admission he requested stimulous money for his district.

Did you read about all of Paul Ryan's many lies and distortions that he told at the Republican Convention.
He may call himself a Catholic, but he doesn't live as one, does he? http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/plum-line/post/paul-ryan-fails----the-truth/2012/08/29/bbfe1eac-f254-11e1-b74c-84ed55e0300b_blog.html?tid=pm_pop http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/U/US_CVN_GOP_CONVENTION_FACT_CHECK?SITE=AP&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT&CTIME=2012-08-30-07-31-10 http://www.usnews.com/opinion/blogs/robert-schlesinger/2012/08/29/paul-ryan-repeats-auto-bailout-medicare-lies http://www.thenation.com/blog/169648/they-love-lies-paul-ryan-tells http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2012/08/30/paul-ryans-speech-in-three-words/ http://thinkprogress.org/election/2012/08/30/772921/6-worst-lies-in-paul-ryans-speech/?mobile=nc http://www.tnr.com/blog/plank/106730/ryan-most-dishonest-convention-speech-five-lies-gm-medicare-deficit-medicaid http://www.salon.com/2012/08/30/paul_ryans_brazen_lies/ http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2012/aug/29/paul-ryan/paul-ryan-said-president-obama-funneled-716-billio/

Foreign Policy Achievements
President Obama: • Killed Osama Bin Laden • Ended Iraq War • Killed more Al Qaeda leaders than any other President • Supported "Arab Spring" uprising Romney • None Romney: NO foreign policy experience in a very DANGEROUS world!
JJRowe September 19, 2012 at 03:15 am
This man has no moral compass, and yet I believe Wisconsin will overlook this fact, and vote for him anyway. But why? He can look you in the eye and with no hesitation whatsoever, lie straight to your face, simply so that you will vote for him. Then say things like, we will lead, we will face the tough choices. What the hell is tough about lying.......telling the truth is the difficult choice, Mr. Ryan.
Carolo October 1, 2012 at 08:27 pm
Does Ryan say in his ads he wants to end Medicare and privatize social security? Guess he forgot that part, huh?
mau October 1, 2012 at 08:44 pm
Obama had NO foreign policy experience in a very DANGEROUS world either, when he was elected.
mau October 1, 2012 at 08:45 pm
John Heckenlively would have been a better candidate than Zerbin, to beat Ryan. Oh wait, Ryan cleaned his clock too.
mau October 1, 2012 at 08:46 pm
There for a minute I thought you were talking about obama.

Rees; When the Sacred village Board cloaked the building of a new Village hall for over $17 million,Read More it was brought to there attention to build TWO new fire stations. One south, one north. Instead they built the Taj Mahal and a distance fire station. Maybe the two remaining Trustees could orate their decision for the residents.

Hmm "make a stronger Wisconsin than ever". Yup Scottie, 44th in the country is the beat!Read More Soon 50th? Inverted math? "The recall brought us closer together" You won spending 6-1 using a majority of out of state $, had 5 times longer to campaign and won because one side failed to confront the second battle of recalls as a whole vs Scotties recall. "For decades we will be able to look up public officials and hopefuls, teachers, neighbors, interviewees" so much for freedom of speech & the recall Scott Walker used to become Milwaukee's head of busted political officials. Scott you were hired to represent all citizens of Wisconsin.
