Mount Pleasant Village Board Will Consider Interim Administrator Pay

After the village Personnel Committee met in closed session Thursday, they moved to forward to the Board for consideration whether or not Interim Administrator Ron Meyer should get a bump in pay.

When the Village Board in May 2011 appointed Planning Director Ron Meyer as part of the interim management team, increased compensation wasn't part of the package.

Now, though, Meyer serves as the interim administrator, and at Monday's board meeting, trustees will consider whether his salary should be adjusted to reflect his increased responsibilities. The board will also discuss if that pay should be retroactive back to when Meyer was first named as part of the management team.

Meyer, Village President Carolyn Milkie and former Clerk/Treasurer Deb Salas were named the interim management team after trustees fired former Administrator Mike Andreasen in May 2011. Andreasen died on June 1, 2011,Β  from a heart attack.

The Mount Pleasant Personnel Committee met Thursday to talk about hiring an outside firm to help the village find a full-time, permanent administrator. The village is expected to hire a recruitment firm to find a new administrator.

The village will most likely ask potential partner firms for a cafeteria-style price list so the village can pick and choose which part of the search process they want to handle and what tasks the firm can pick up.

"There are certain things that staff can handle, like creating a brochure, writing the ad, and placing the ad," Milkie said.

The committee on Thursday also met in closed session to discuss poll worker compensation and Meyer's compensation as the interim administrator.
