Mount Pleasant Names Interim Administrator, Will Reopen Search

Trustees unanimously approved naming Planning Director Ron Meyer as the village's interim administrator even while they start their search for a more permanent solution.

Mount Pleasant's search for a new administrator will get a fresh start, and trustees Monday named Ron Meyer as the village's interim adminstrator.

Meyer is planning director and has been employed with Mount Pleasant for nearly 20 years. For the past 10 months, he has been a member of the interim management team while the village looked for a new administrator.

"After not reaching an agreement with any candidate, we are going to start our search over again," said Village President Carolyn Milkie after the Board met in closed session for nearly an hour during the Board meeting.

"We are in total agreement," said Trustee John Hewitt.

While some of Meyer's planning responsibilities will be delegated to other members of village staff, adjusting his salary has not been decided.

"We didn't discuss any bump in pay," he told Patch. "Those discussions are yet to come."

Mount Pleasant has been without an administrator since last May when they fired Mike Andreasen. Since then, Meyer, Milkie and former Clerk/Treasurer Debra Salas shared duties as an interim management team. The village placed an ad for a new administrator last November and received 43 applications. After narrowing the field to three, one candidate - Mike Gracz - removed himself from the running.

Salas left the village in February to take the top job in the clerk's office in the City of Kenosha, and Veronica Rudychev was hired to take her place.

Meyer's appointment is effective immediately.
