Mount Pleasant Artist Presenting Village With Quilt

Ann Fahl will give the village a piece of her work at the next board meeting.

Mount Pleasant artist Ann Fahl will present the village with one of her self-designed quilts, "November Garden," at the Mon., June 13 board meeting.

According to Village President Carolyn Milkie, Fahl chose the design herself and the quilt is a gift.

"We're very happy that such a talented resident donate such a beautiful piece of work to Mount Pleasant," she said.

Fahl said she chose "November Garden" because the colors of the quilt went so well with the colors at Village Hall.

"I know that sounds odd because the colors in the quilt are so muted," she laughed. "But I took a few over and this piece was the one that really went well, not just with the hall itself, but also because of the windows that look out over the natural area behind the building."

"November Garden" measures 50" x 56" and will be hung in a customized plexiglass box to protect it.

"People don't touch paintings," Fahl explained. "But everyone loves to touch fabric or art pieces with fiber and this way, the quilt can be protected to hang for years."

Trustee John Hewitt said Fahl's gift is not a new design, it is a finished piece that has appeared in shows and won awards around the country.

"We're really fortunate to have this donation from Ann," he said.

"November Garden" will be hung in the south wall of Ebe Auditorium at Village Hall in time for the June 25 open house for the new Village Hall.Β
