Could Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett get a boost from a Friday visit from former President Bill Clinton? At the very least, having Clinton stump for Barrett probably can't hurt.
out of Marquette University Law School put Barrett seven points behind Gov. Scott Walker, 45 to 52 percent.
The No Quarter Blog at jsonline.com is reporting that Clinton will speak at a Barrett event at 10 am in Pere Marquette Park in downtown Milwaukee.
According to the blog post, former Rep. Dave Obey was the primary force urging Clinton to make an appearance supporting Barrett's run for governor against Walker in the June 5 recall election.
"Shared sacrifice, with everyone being brought to the table." What does that mean exactly? Is Barrett going to raise taxes? How is Barrett, as Governor, going to negotiate with union locals on an individual school district / municipality basis all over the state, as he claimed he would last night? And if he did, wouldn't that be a severe overreach of the powers of Governor, not to mention a usurping of local elected leaders' power? Is Barrett going to undo the property tax freeze? What is Barrett going to cut from the budget to alleviate the deficit? In the last debate, Barrett slammed Walker for restructuring some of the state's previously acquired debt. How will Barrett approach the issue regarding our previously acquired debt? Will Barrett refrain from issuing new public debt offerings on the Wisconsin credit card, as Walker has thus far? Barrett refuses to answer ALL of these questions - WHY??? If we look at his record in Milwaukee, for guidance, here is how we can answer these questions: Raise taxes - YES, and significantly Unions - Give them everything they want Property tax freeze - That will be dust in the wind Budget cuts - None Restructuring debt - All of it New debt - At record levels So, let me ask you this Randy - why do you hate our future generations so much for that you'd vote for Barrett, a man who will undoubtedly saddle them with even more of our debts and current problems?
MrsPeel started with the crass personal remarks (see one below regarding Sara Conrad that is utterly despicable), and yet you call Craig out first, but not MrsPeel what-so-ever. What gives?
Amazing!!! As for fox news yes absolutely they talk about the stuff the left leaning media does not want the public to know. That was proven when the 911 tapes of Zimmerman were played on the air and most of the conversation was cut out!!! Bad news there hornswaggle Gov Walker will lead this State forward after Tuesday!!! Then what?
I wish everyone would stop being personal, because it makes us short-tempered.
You claim to be voting for Barrett because you believe his policies will improve things for the poor and needy. Well, he's been the Mayor of the City of Milwaukee for the past 8 years, and under his policies, poverty and need in the city have INCREASED exponentially. You may want to rethink your reasoning here, as there seems to be a serious depart from logic and reality!
OK, I'll give you a pass on this one if you respond to my rebuttal re your post about Barrett's plan below :-)
Its ok I understand you really cant help it. You have been brainwashed your entire life and u struggle with the reality of whats real and fanatsy!!! Its ok we understand and after Walkers Victory your welcome to join the rest of us in moving this State forward
People will make sacrifices as long as those sacrifices are evenly applied. They will make sacrifices as long as they are kept informed and persuaded it's for the common good. They don't respond well when they're treated like enemies right out of the starting gate. Tom Barrett was right -- He and Scott Walker would not have been on that stage last night if Walker had accepted the unions' offer to make concessions. No, he had to make it permanent. His style of leadership -- crush your enemies and keep them down -- is lacking and it's disastrous in the long run. It leads to a lack of trust. Especially when one group of people seems to be getting the breaks at the expense of another. I don't want my descendants to have to live in a state where one party can take power and then run the government like a dictatorship.
For me, this is not so much about collective bargaining as it is about Scott Walker's dictatorial style of governing. And it's about trust. When a man says one thing to the public and the opposite to wealthy donors, there is no trust.
As for a vote being meaningless, now you know how I feel living in Sensenbrenner-land.
And to think Obama was in IL today. Couldn't be bothered to make a stop on Barrett's behalf, not that it would've helped. Two losers don't make a winner, that's for sure.
I'll point out lies and inconsistencies always.
