Racine County has about $2.2 million in cash leftover from its 2012 budget, according a story in the Journal Times.
Much of the cash came from not spending as much on human services, and revenue created from proprietary funds, including Ridgewood Care Center, Reefpoint Marina and the Ives Grove Golf Links. The funds generated $439,000 in revenue, which will need to stay in their respective funds.
However, the remaining cash will go back into the county's reserve funds, which Racine County Executive Jim Ladwig said he wants to bolster the county's reserve funds to maintain their bond rating.
